The PADI Open Water Diver course is the first level of certification in recreational diving. It is designed to teach students the fundamentals of safe and effective autonomous diving. During the course, participants will learn diving techniques, basic theory, safety practices, and essential skills to enjoy diving in open water environments.
Course Content:
1.Theory: Basic diving concepts such as diving physics, physiology, diving equipment, and dive planning are covered.
2.Confined Water Practice: Training sessions in a pool or other confined water settings where skills like equipment assembly, buoyancy control, rescue techniques, and more are practiced.
3.Open Water Dives: Dives in natural environments under instructor supervision to apply learned skills and explore marine life.
No prior diving experience is required, but participants must be at least 10 years old (or older, depending on local legislation) and in good physical health. Minors will need parental or guardian consent.
Duration: The course duration varies depending on the dive center and location, but typically includes theoretical sessions, confined water practice, and at least four open water dives over several days.
Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive the PADI Open Water Diver certification. This certification is internationally recognized and allows divers to explore open water environments up to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet) under the supervision of a certified diver.
